Here to Serve… Not to Judge!

Alicia Andrews was the first defendant to stand trial in the high-profile Florida case involving the June 2024 ambush killing of Jacksonville rapper Julio Foolio (Charles Jones). Prosecutors argued that Andrews traveled from Jacksonville to Tampa with her boyfriend and others as part of a coordinated effort tied to ongoing gang tensions, and that she helped monitor the victim’s movements before the shooting. Andrews maintained she had no knowledge of a murder plot, saying she believed the trip was simply a weekend getaway and described her relationship with her boyfriend as controlling and abusive. In October 2025, a Tampa jury convicted Andrews of manslaughter – a lesser charge to first-degree murder – while acquitting her of conspiracy, and her sentencing was later delayed. This case underscores complex issues around alleged gang violence, individual culpability, and the legal strategies used by both sides in a contentious trial.

Board certified criminal trial lawyer Lisa Figueroa has been following the case closely due to the legal issues and questions raised in this case, as well as an effort to help educate the general public about the trial process.
