Florida rapper Kodak Black, whose legal name is Bill Kapri, was taken into custody on April 17 while crossing the U.S. border into Canada. Black was crossing the Lewiston-Queenston International Bridge in a Cadillac with two passengers. A second car, a Porsche, accompanied them. Black was supposed to perform in Boston that night, but officials say they do not know where the men were headed.
The men told border agents they had firearms and marijuana. According to authorities, there was a Glock 9 mm pistol in Black’s vehicle, and he also had marijuana. Black and the driver of the Porsche were both charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon. The two passengers in Black’s vehicle were given weapons charges. Black’s bail was set at $40,000 or $20,000 in cash.
It is not the first legal trouble the 21-year-old rapper has found himself in. He allegedly raped a woman after a concert in South Carolina in 2016 and faces a charge of first-degree criminal sexual misconduct for that.
